Golden Turmeric Milk
An easy 10 minute recipe which delivers you a deliciously warm and scented drink that boasts a lieu of healing properties. Turmeric has been used for thousands of years in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine. This soothing drink is guaranteed to offer you the comfort you need.
The black pepper and coconut oil (or fats found in milks such as coconut and almond) are important elements of the recipe as they help the turmeric to be absorbed into the body. You can use fresh or good quality ground turmeric - we offer organic fresh turmeric and ginger that you can add to your veg box.
Any leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 2 days.
2 ½ cups unsweetened and full fat almond or coconut milk (or milk of your choice)
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 inches fresh turmeric, sliced or 1 ½ teaspoon ground turmeric spice
1 inch fresh ginger, sliced or ½ teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon coconut oil
Pinch black pepper
1 tablespoon honey, or more to taste
Add all ingredients to a saucepan over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer. Simmer for 10 minutes to let the flavours mix.
If using fresh turmeric and ginger strain the liquid
Dust with cinnamon before serving (optional)
