Price Rises

We’re writing to all our veg box members to let you know that we have taken the difficult decision to raise the price of our veg boxes. We have kept our box prices the same for a long time: Original and OriginalPLUS+ boxes last went up in price in February 2019; the last rise for Choice boxes was two years before that.

We know things are tough for everyone at the moment: if we could continue without these price rises, we would.

Great values at great value

We want to be able to pay our local growers the prices they need to continue their passion of growing great-tasting veg. Local farms have been particularly hard hit by the general rise in the cost of things; they’ve had to raise their prices to us, and we need to raise our prices as well if we are to provide a sustainable basis for our own survival.

However, we are lucky in one important respect: the steep rise in fuel costs hasn’t had such a big effect on us – with a fleet primarily of electric vans! We believe our veg boxes are still great value compared to any others delivered in the Cambridge area.

Living our values: a true living wage

We are very aware that the cost-of-living crisis is having a real impact on our own team. We were very proud to be the first food-based business to become Living Wage-accredited employers in East Anglia. That was back in 2015. As you may know, the Living Wage Foundation publishes two rates: one for London and one for the rest of the country. Cambridge, of course, is a very expensive place to live. This year, with the cost of living rising so dramatically, we’ve decided that we need to pay our colleagues the London Living Wage rate.
